This article contains step-by-step instructions on how to apply for the Egypt e-Visa.
Please note that entry requirements are always subject to change. For the most current and accurate information, we recommend checking the U.S. Department of State's website, the Government of Canada's website or getting in touch with the respective country's consulate or embassy.
What you need
To enter Egypt, all U.S. and Canadian passport holders must obtain a visa. This can be done online (e-Visa) or upon arrival. This guide will walk you through applying for an e-Visa.
If you plan to obtain a visa in person upon arrival, please make sure you arrive with $30 in exact change in crisp, new, USD bills. Learn more here.
When to apply
You can start applying for the e-Visa around 30 days prior to departure. You will need your hotel information (learn how to find your hotel details) to apply.
How to apply
While our team is dedicated to keeping visa information up to date, please be aware that consulate applications are subject to change. As a result, your application may differ slightly from this guide. In such cases, use this guide as a reference, but follow your application’s instructions.
Walkthrough:
U.S. and Canadian passport holders can apply by visiting the official Egypt e-Visa Portal website: CLICK HERE
Next, scroll down the homepage and select “SIGN UP” to create an account.
Fill out the information below and create a password.
After selecting “SIGN UP,” you'll need to verify your email address. You'll receive an email to your inbox. (If you haven't received it, please check your junk or spam folder.)
The email you'll receive will look like the photo below. You should select “Verify E-mail address” and then be directed to your account.
Important note: If after you select “Verify E-mail address" it doesn't automatically take you to the next photo (showing your application), then you'll need to select “SIGN IN” on the homepage and type in your email and password that you just created.
Once you get to the applications page, select “CREATE NEW APPLICATION.”
Enter your visa type as “Tourism” and the entry type as “Single.”
Next, accurately complete all the required applicant details below.
Under "Profession," enter your job title. If you're retired or unemployed, type that in.
Next, fill out the information below exactly as it appears on your passport.
Please note: If you haven't visited Egypt before, select “No” and the dates visited don't need to be filled in. They only need to be filled in if you selected “Yes” to having visited before.
Fill in your contact details:
- For your phone number, don't include any dashes and put "+1" in front of the number.
- E.g. "+11234567890"
Next, select “ATTACH” to upload a photo of your passport.
- The file needs to be a JPG or PDF.
- The file size must be under 1 MB. If the photo is too large, you can use a photo resizer tool online to adjust the size to be smaller.
If you receive the below error message, you should rename your passport photo file. Try renaming the file to “Passport.”
If you've uploaded your passport photo correctly, you should see it listed under the “Supporting documents” section. You will then select “SAVE/UPDATE APPLICANT.”
The next section will ask you for your Host information.
