Wondering how to apply for a visa for your tour? Whether you're looking for visa application steps, e-Visa options, or embassy information, we’re here to guide you through it. The process can vary depending on your destination, so it’s important to know what’s required before you go.
If you're already booked on a tour, you'll find visa recommendations tailored to your itinerary in your online account (U.S. travelers/Canadian travelers) or mobile app (U.S. travelers/Canadian travelers) under the Getting ready section. This information is provided through our trusted partner, Sherpa, and is updated in real time if entry requirements change.
Please note that if you choose to apply for a visa through Sherpa’s application service, additional fees may apply. You can usually apply directly through official government websites instead to avoid extra service fees.

Visa on arrival
Some countries allow travelers to purchase a visa when they arrive. This can be a simple and budget-friendly option, but it’s not available everywhere. If your destination offers this, you’ll head to the visa processing area after landing.
Important to know:
- Some countries require printed documents and specific payment methods
- Lines can be long, so applying for an e-Visa in advance is often easier
- Not all destinations offer a visa-on-arrival option
Applying in advance
Please wait until your Tour Finalization Date has passed before starting your visa application. Many visa applications will require your hotel details, which are released around 30 days prior to departure.
e-Visa (recommended)
Many countries offer an online visa application process. It’s fast, secure, and convenient.
Here’s how it works:
- Fill out your personal and travel details
- Upload required documents
- Pay fees by credit card
- Receive your e-Visa within a few days
Through a consulate or embassy
You can also apply directly through the destination country’s consulate or embassy. This option may require:
- In-person visits or mailing documents
- Longer processing times
- Careful preparation with all required paperwork
Using VisaCentral or Sherpa
Prefer help with the process? One of our trusted partners, VisaCentral or Sherpa, can apply on your behalf.
Please note: We recommend using these services only if you are applying for a complicated Visa (i.e., China Visa). For all others, we highly recommend using the official government website.
What to expect:
- You’ll provide your travel details and documents
- VisaCentral or Sherpa handles the application
- This option includes service fees and takes longer
To get started with VisaCentral, visit their website (U.S. travelers/Canadian travelers), and use reference code 73041 for a special traveler rate. To get started with Sherpa, visit your Getting ready section of your online account and select one of the options presented by Sherpa.
Be sure to read the application carefully and only select optional services you wish to pay for. You are not required to use an application service to apply for your visa.
Need a visa letter from Go Ahead to complete your VisaCentral or Sherpa application? Just send us a message - we’re happy to help.
Received your visa or ETA approval pre-tour? You'll want to confirm the expectations on how to present your approved document ahead of arrival. Some countries may require a printed copy of your visa, others may require a QR code, and some may automatically associate your visa or ETA with your passport. Be sure to read through any requirements within your documented approval before arriving to your destination.
