This article contains information on how to obtain the Egypt visa upon arrival.
Beginning August 1, 2026, the Egyptian government is discontinuing their paper visa system and adopting a QR code visa system. At this time, all travelers will be required to purchase their visa on arrival using designated machines at the Cairo Airport. The country is expected to roll out a mobile app to accompany this system, but the mobile app has not yet been released.
Please note that entry requirements are always subject to change. For the most current and accurate information, we recommend checking the U.S. Department of State's website, the Government of Canada's website or getting in touch with the respective country's consulate or embassy.
How to apply
You will find designated visa kiosks upon arrival into the Cairo Airport, where you will apply for the QR code visa. The fee to purchase your visa on arrival will be $36 USD (including a $6 automation charge), and the fee must be paid using a credit card that can support transactions in USD. Airport employees and your Go Ahead representative may be able to assist in directing where to find the kiosks.
