Everything you need to know about Indonesia's entry requirements
We are so excited for your upcoming adventure in Indonesia! Before you take off, there are a few important entry requirements to take care of. There are three steps to complete before you travel, so let's walk through each one so you're fully prepared and ready to soak up every magical moment.
Requirement #1: Bali Tourism Tax
What is it?
All tourists visiting Bali are required to pay a tourism levy of IDR 150,000 (equivalent to about $9 USD or $12 CAD, subject to change) This is a per-person fee and is separate from any visa requirements.
U.S. and Canadian passport holders: You will still need to obtain a visa to travel to Indonesia in addition to paying this tourism levy. Both are required!
How do I pay?
We strongly recommend paying before you travel through the official Bali tourism website: https://lovebali.baliprov.go.id/
Please only use the official link above to make your payment. There are scam websites out there — the link above is the only one you should trust!
Here's what you'll need to complete payment:
- Your preferred payment method
- Your full name
- Your email address
- Your passport number
- Your arrival date
Once payment is processed, a levy voucher with a QR code will be sent to your email. You'll need to have this QR code ready to be scanned at designated checkpoints at Denpasar Airport.
When Should I Pay?
Please make your payment and save your QR code before your flight to Bali. While you can pay upon arrival at the airport, lines can get very long. Completing this in advance means more time enjoying Bali and less time waiting around!
Requirement #2: Arrival Card
What is it?
Travelers entering Indonesia must complete an electronic arrival card within 72 hours prior to arrival. This arrival card encompasses health declarations and customs forms. This is a free, mandatory digital form that consolidates immigration, health, and customs declarations into one QR code for scanning at airport kiosks.
How do I get it?
Fill out the official form here: https://allindonesia.imigrasi.go.id/. You can begin filling out this form up to 72 hours prior to departure.
Requirement #3: Visa
What is it?
All U.S. and Canadian tourists visiting Bali are required to obtain a visa. Travelers are responsible for obtaining their own visa, and Go Ahead Tours cannot assist with the visa process. If you hold a non-US or Canadian passport, please consult with the appropriate consulate regarding entry requirements.
How do I obtain a visa?
Visa upon arrival:
- Cost: IDR 500.000,00 (equivalent to about $30 USD or $41 CAD, subject to change)
- Will complete payment at visa kiosk with airport agent. Payment available by credit card.
- Visa will be sent via email confirmation once payment is complete.
e-Visa on government website:
- Indonesia official government website: https://evisa.imigrasi.go.id/
- Cost: IDR 500.000,00 (equivalent to about $30 USD or $41 CAD, subject to change)
- Visa type: B1 Tourist (valid for 90 days upon approval - can stay in Indonesia for up to 30 days)
Your Pre-Departure Checklist
Before you head to the airport, make sure you've completed all three steps:
- Paid your Bali Tourism Levy and saved your QR code voucher
- Completed your SATUSEHAT Health Pass (within 48 hours of departure) and saved your QR code
- Completed your Electronic Customs Declaration (e-CD) (within 72 hours of arrival) and saved your QR code
