Everything You Need to Know About Indonesia's Entry Requirements
We are so excited for your upcoming adventure in Indonesia! Before you take off, there are a few important entry requirements to take care of. There are three steps to complete before you travel, so let's walk through each one so you're fully prepared and ready to soak up every magical moment.
Requirement #1: Bali Tourism Tax
What Is It?
As of February 14, 2024, all tourists visiting Bali are required to pay a tourism levy of IDR 150,000 (approximately $10 USD or $13 CAD). This is a per-person fee and is separate from any visa requirements.
U.S. and Canadian passport holders: You will still need to obtain a visa to travel to Indonesia in addition to paying this tourism levy. Both are required!
How Do I Pay?
We strongly recommend paying before you travel through the official Bali tourism website: https://lovebali.baliprov.go.id/
Please only use the official link above to make your payment. There are scam websites out there — the link above is the only one you should trust!
Here's what you'll need to complete payment:
- Your preferred payment method
- Your full name
- Your email address
- Your passport number
- Your arrival date
Once payment is processed, a levy voucher with a QR code will be sent to your email. You'll need to have this QR code ready to be scanned at designated checkpoints at Denpasar Airport.
When Should I Pay?
Please make your payment and save your QR code before your flight to Bali. While you can pay upon arrival at the airport, lines can get very long. Completing this in advance means more time enjoying Bali and less time waiting around!
Requirement #2: Health Pass (SATUSEHAT)
What Is It?
The Indonesian Government requires all international travelers to complete a SATUSEHAT Health Pass before entering the country. This form collects information about your health and travel history and was introduced in response to Mpox being declared a public health emergency.
How Do I Complete It?
Fill out the Health Pass form at the official link below: https://sshp.kemkes.go.id/
The form must be completed within 48 hours before your departure. After submitting, you'll receive a QR code that must be presented to Health Quarantine Officers upon your arrival in Indonesia.
What About Health Screening at the Airport?
Upon arrival, all travelers will pass through a thermal scanner to check for elevated body temperature. If your temperature reads 37.5°C (99.5°F) or higher, you may be subject to additional screening or testing.
Requirement #3: Electronic Customs Declaration (e-CD)
What Is It?
All foreign travelers entering Indonesia are also required to complete an electronic customs declaration form (e-CD) before arrival. This is a straightforward form to declare what you're bringing into the country.
When Do I Complete It?
The e-CD form must be submitted within 72 hours before your arrival in Indonesia.
After submitting, you'll receive a QR code to present to officials after collecting your luggage at your destination airport.
Your Pre-Departure Checklist
Before you head to the airport, make sure you've completed all three steps:
- Paid your Bali Tourism Levy and saved your QR code voucher
- Completed your SATUSEHAT Health Pass (within 48 hours of departure) and saved your QR code
- Completed your Electronic Customs Declaration (e-CD) (within 72 hours of arrival) and saved your QR code
- *(If applicable)* Obtained your Indonesia Visa prior to departure
