Excited for your upcoming trip, but also feeling a little anxious? You’re not alone. This guide offers tips and resources to help you feel supported, before and during your journey.
Travel can bring incredible joy, discovery, and connection. But being away from home can also introduce new challenges, from changes in routine to navigating unfamiliar environments. At EF Go Ahead Tours, your well-being matters to us, and we’re here to help you feel confident and cared for every step of the way.
Before you travel
- Visit the CDC’s Mental Health and Travel page for helpful advice on managing stress and taking care of your mental health while abroad.
- If you’re living with a mental health condition, or simply want to talk through any concerns before your trip, send us a message and we’ll connect you with someone who can help.
- Even if you don’t need to speak with a specialist, we encourage you to update your Health Notes in your online account (U.S. travelers/Canadian travelers) or mobile app (U.S. travelers/Canadian travelers) if there’s anything your Tour Director should be aware of.
While on tour
Sometimes travel involves surprises - cultural differences, unfamiliar settings, or moments that feel overwhelming. If something affects your mental well-being while you’re on tour:
- Talk to your Tour Director. They’re there to support you and can help you navigate the situation or access additional resources.
- Make space for self-care. That might mean journaling, resting, meditating, or taking a short break from group activities - it’s okay to give yourself what you need.
Next steps:
- Review the CDC’s mental health travel tips.
- Add any relevant information to your health notes.
- Reach out to us if you’d like to talk to a specialist before your trip.
- Let your Tour Director know if you need support during your tour.
