Sometimes life throws a curveball, and you may need to head home before your tour officially ends. Whether it’s due to a medical emergency, a family matter, or something else urgent, we’re here to help you navigate the change with care and support.
What is a tour interruption?
A tour interruption simply means leaving your tour before the final day. It can happen for a variety of reasons, and we understand that these moments can be stressful. Even if you didn’t book your flights through Go Ahead, we’ll still be here to help you get home safely.
What to do if you need to leave early
If you need to interrupt your tour, please call our On-Tour Support Team right away at +1-617-619-1911. We’ll work with you and your Tour Director to make sure everything is taken care of.
Here’s how we can help:
- Find a new flight itinerary to get you home as quickly as possible
- These changes can come with additional costs, which we will communicate with you to find the best solution for your situation.
- Book or extend hotel accommodations if needed
- Assist with any other logistics to make your journey home smooth and safe
If a major world event affects your tour
In rare cases, a public health emergency, severe weather, or other global event may impact your tour. If that happens, our 24/7 Emergency Service Team will step in to adjust your itinerary or arrange for travelers to return home early. We’ll keep you informed every step of the way and make sure you’re supported throughout the process. Read through the Terms & Conditions (U.S. travelers/Canadian travelers) for more information about cancellations or modifications due to major world events.
Travel protection and reimbursement
If you purchased travel protection through Go Ahead, you may be eligible for reimbursement for costs related to your early departure. If you are opting to leave your tour early for medical purposes, you must see a doctor before departing for home and you should keep all documentation given to you by the doctor. You Tour Director can help you find resources abroad.
Voluntary departures may not be covered, and Go Ahead Tours cannot guarantee the outcome of any claim filed. Whether you have a Go Ahead Travel Protection plan or an insurance plan with another company, we recommend keeping any receipts along the way to provide to the insurance company.
For U.S. travelers:
- Additional costs must be paid at the time of change.
- You can file a claim for reimbursement through your Trip Protection plan. Read more about Trip Protection.
For Canadian travelers:
- Tour interruption benefits must be pre-approved by the Claims Agent.
- Without pre-approval, reimbursement will depend on the necessity and reasonableness of the expenses. Read more about the Travel Protection Plan.
Note: Travel insurance is not available to residents of Québec.
