Not feeling your best while on tour? Whether it’s a cold, flu, or something more unexpected, we’re here to help you navigate it with care and support. If you’re wondering what to do when you're sick on tour, need help with isolation, or have questions about insurance, you’re in the right place.
What to do if you get sick on tour
If you start feeling unwell during your tour, your Tour Director and our On-Tour Support Team are your go-to resources. Let your Tour Director know as soon as possible so they can help coordinate next steps.
You can also reach our 24/7 On-Tour Support Team at +1-617-619-1911. We’ll guide you through:
- Local health protocols
- CDC recommendations
- Insurance claim support
We follow the guidance of local health authorities and the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). If your symptoms match those outlined by the CDC, like a fever, you may be asked to take precautions to help protect others in your group.
These precautions may include:
- Wearing a mask
- Maintaining distance from others
- Temporarily separating from the group
Your Tour Director will stay in close contact, and our Support Team will help you navigate any necessary steps.
Costs and insurance coverage
If isolation is required, travelers are responsible for any related costs. If you’ve purchased a Travel Protection plan, you may be eligible for reimbursement. To file a claim, you’ll need to:
- Work directly with the insurance provider
- Submit required documentation (such as a doctor’s note)
- Read this article for instructions on filing a claim
Please note that EF Go Ahead Tours cannot guarantee claim approval, but we’re here to support you through the process.
COVID-19 guidelines
COVID-19 is now treated similarly to other respiratory illnesses like the flu or RSV. That means standard cancellation policies and insurance terms apply.
EF Go Ahead Tours does not require:
- COVID-19 vaccination
- Pre-tour COVID-19 testing
However, you’ll need to follow any destination-specific entry requirements. To check what’s needed for your tour, visit the U.S. Department of State website or the Government of Canada website and enter each country you’ll be visiting during your tour in the search bar.
Next steps:

- Call our On-Tour Support Team at +1-617-619-1911.
