This article contains step-by-step instructions on how to apply for the United Kingdom Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA). Learn more about the UK ETA requirement here. We recommend applying at least 30 days before departure to allow enough time for processing.
Please note that entry requirements are always subject to change. For the most current and accurate information, we recommend checking the U.S. Department of State's website, the Government of Canada's website or getting in touch with the respective country's consulate or embassy.
While our team is dedicated to keeping visa information up to date, please be aware that consulate applications are subject to change. As a result, your application may differ slightly from this guide. In such cases, use this guide as a reference, but follow your application’s instructions.
How to apply for the UK ETA
U.S. and Canadian passport holders can apply through the UK ETA app or official website. This article contains step-by-step instructions for applying via both platforms. Click here for instructions on how to apply via the official website and click here for instructions on applying on the mobile app.
Please note that you cannot start your application and return to it later; it must be completed in one sitting. If you step away for more than 20 minutes, your application session will time out and you'll need to start again from the beginning. To avoid this, make sure you have your required photos saved and ready before you begin.
