When and how to check in
All travelers are responsible for checking in to their own flights. Many airlines allow passengers to check in starting 24 hours before their first scheduled flight via their mobile app or official website. You can download their mobile app by searching your airline's name in your phone’s app store.
It's important to only access flight details from the airline's app or official site to avoid potential scams by third-party companies claiming to be the airline. If there are two airlines associated with your flight reservation, you should access your booking from the airline who is operating your first flight. Online check-in may not be available if your flight is operated by a different airline than your ticket was booked under.
Online check-in instructions
Navigate to the "Check-in" section of the airline's app or website, and input your flight details found in your Go Ahead online account (U.S. travelers/Canadian travelers) and mobile app. Learn how to view your flight details. To access your booking from the airline's site, you'll need to enter your name and flight reservation number. Airlines also refer to this as a confirmation number, record locator number or booking code. It's six characters long, often combining both letters and numbers (E.g. CF9KLG).
Trouble accessing flight reservation online
If you receive a notice that your booking can't be found when entering your name and reservation number, the issue could have to do with how you're entering your name. Make sure you enter your name exactly how it appears on your passport or travel document. If asked to enter both your first and last name (and your middle name also appears on your travel document), try squishing your first and middle name together (without a space between them) in the first name field only (E.g. RobertHenry). Airline systems often combine first and middle names, leaving no space between them. This is why you may notice your first and middle name combined into one name on your boarding pass. Learn more about names on airline tickets.
Once you've accessed your flight reservation online, follow the steps to check in and receive your mobile boarding pass.
Using a mobile boarding pass at the airport
If you're not checking a bag and have your electronic boarding pass on your phone, there's no need to head to the check-in/ticket counter when you first arrive at the airport. Instead, you can go straight to security. If you are checking a bag, you'll need to head to the ticket counter when you get to the airport.
Can't check in online? Check in at the airport instead.
Some flight reservations will only allow you to check in once you're at the airport. If you aren't able to check in online, no worries! When you arrive at the airport, head straight to your airline's check-in/ticket counter. Please note: If there are two airlines associated with your flight reservation, you should go to the ticket counter of the airline who is operating your first flight.
You'll then be asked to hand over your passport and any other documentation required for your tour, and the airline agent will get you checked in, collect any checked luggage, and print your boarding passes. Some airlines may have self check-in kiosks that can be used to avoid long lines. If you have any questions about checking in once you're at the airport, ask an airline staff member for help.
Finally, head through security, and get ready to set off on your adventure!
